a grandmother and her grandson: i took this group of pictures over christmas with my family. i traveled south of dallas to gatesville. here, paula and austin work to catch fish from their holes as the game turns in a circle. a little harder than it looks… i found grabbing the fish with my fingers worked better, but austin was quick to inform me that was against the rules.

time: my dad sits watching a football game after dinner. i am now the age that my dad was when i was born. it scares me to think i am suppose to be an adult now.

my twin: it’s hard getting a picture of kayce. she rarely will let me take a picture of her, so i get as many as i can when she’s not looking. looking back at my life, i realize she has always been my strength and the one constant in my life.

giving: paula continues to play a fishing game with austin. without any doubt, paula is the most giving and caring person I know… my dad is pretty lucky.

telling stories: after eatin we all sat around talkin, tell stories, and laughing. it was nice to be with family. across the table from me is my brother john. always friendly, i can’t remember us ever being in a disagreement.

being young: seeing jacob covered in mud reminds me of something my dad use to say… “you’re running around like a pack of wild indians.” i remember him telling my sister and i that at his softball games when we'd get into things we shouldn’t have been doing. of course that was the exact moment when we were having the most fun.

muddy smile: jacob, my cousin in san antonio, looks like he rolled around in some mud before this shot. this was taken over thanksgiving weekend in the drainage ditch beside their house. the weekend was a good escape from dallas for me. i was able to watch some football, do some dancing, drink some cold beer, eat some good food, and spend time with my family. it doesn’t get much better than that.

jump: i snapped this picture of jacob as he jumped on their trampoline.

faces: a neighborhood friend, joseph, and jacob (minus the mud) gather for a “make an ugly face” picture. unknown to josoph, jacob sneaks in some bunny ears on him. isn’t that what brothers are for?

peace: my sister kayce can be seen beyond her peace sign. of the many pictures i’ve posted on here, this is the first I did not take. the credit goes to my cousin hannah. also, kayce never let’s me take a picture of her… she always dodges and ducks when i point the camera in her direction. i always have to catch her when she’s not looking. good shot hannah.

beauty: i snapped this picture of hannah right before i handed the camera over to her. it seems every picture i’ve taken of hannah… she has a great smile. a smile to me, is not about someone’s teeth, but is a window into someone heart. hannah always has a warm and genuinely honest smile.
