smiles: hannah laughs during a game of hide and seek in the front yard of my sisters place. last month we were blessed with a visit from my aunt robbin and her kids, hannah, joseph, and jacob. because of our age difference i’ve always considered robbin an older sister... you know the one you can count on when you’re in a spot. just as we all grow, i’ve enjoyed watching robbin grow into a mother of three great kids. hannah is the oldest, followed by joseph, and jacob.

birds over head: joseph walks around the pool during a game in the backyard. while they were here, i got to race go-carts with them, watch movies, and take some pictures... not too bad at all.

camo runner: jacob runs through the front yard chasing one of his siblings. moving pretty face, i was able to capture him with the blurred tree in the background.

green: the green flag drops on the start of the nascar busch series o'reilly 300 at texas motor speedway in forth worth. the pole sitter, shane hmiel in the 32 car, martin truex in the #8, and carl edwards in the #60, cross the start line this past saturday. my brother john scored some incredible tickets to the race. his father in-law bob worked with a former nascar driver jimmy "smut" means a few years back. now a days, jimmy owns the #52 busch series car. through the john–bob–jimmy connection... i found myself smack dab in the middle of pit row, cars thundering past me, blue skies overhead, and surrounded by some good people.

lookin on: after pushing the car onto pit row, john and i wondered around checking out the different cars and crews.

ready to climb in: eric mcclure, the driver of the 52 car, poses for some pictures minutes before the race. eric was one of the many down-to-earth, friendly people i met that day.

workin: bob, on the right, and jonathan on the left ready themselves for a pit stop. bob was in charge of holding the #52 locator sign so eric would know where to stop and Jonathan was tasked with catching the used tires as they rolled back from the car.

filling up: as the crews prepare their cars for the start of the race, billy looks on. billy is bob’s other son in-law (the other being my brother john). in the background, the stands start to fill up. being a rookie to nascar events, I was amazed at the 100's of 1000's of people that filled the stands, camp grounds, and paking lots. this was my first time, but definitely not my last.

trouble: early on in the race, the gear shifter came loose from the transmission, causing eric to loose precious time. this pit stop corrected the problem, but held eric back long enough to finish 30th of 43.

jr: before the busch race, the cup cars were allowed to practice for their race coming up the following day. here, dale earnhardt jr charges downs pit row, making his way to the track.

pool time: austin plays in the pool on a sunny april day in south texas. my sister heather, her husband brett, their daughter lauren, my brother john, and his son austin, all came down to visit the folks. after being there a day, i realized we weren't visiting our parents, but were visiting nana and paw-paw bob. it seems like yesterday, we were the ones running around and getting into trouble. time doesn’t slow for anyone. the best thing we can do is experience life and make good memories. that weekend with the family will be a good memory for me.

lauren taylor: heather and brett’s daughter dries her hands from splashing the pool water. very independent in spirit, she spent the weekend smiling, laughing, and running around... it was great being a kid, wasn't it? the only time i remember her crying or being upset was when i scared her by starting my motorcycle.

a watchful eye: lauren plays near the pool as nana watches over her granddaughter.

protective dad: brett was always on the lookout for lauren getting into something she shouldn't be in.

independence: if it's even possible for lauren to look mean... this is as close as it gets.

new pictures: heather is busy writing information on the back of lauren’s recent pictures... with brett looking on. everyone received updated pictures. mine found their rightful place on my frig.
